MS Dhoni’s wife Sakshi attended Sunday’s IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad at MA Chidambaram Stadium. After consecutive losses against Lucknow Super Giants, CSK bounced back decisively, beating SRH by 78 runs as they restricted the visitors to 134 runs in 18.5 overs.
During the match, Sakshi posted an Instagram story pleading with the Chennai Super Kings to end the game quickly, explaining that she would soon become an aunt. Her post instantly went viral on social media after the match.
The CSK team responded to Sakshi’s request with a dominant bowling performance led by pacer Tushar Deshpande, securing a big home victory.
Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad fell just short of his second consecutive century, scoring an aggressive 98 off 54 balls to propel CSK to 212-3. Daryl Mitchell found his form and smacked a vital 52 off 32, supporting Gaikwad before Shivam Dube’s unbeaten 39 off 20 took CSK past 200. MS Dhoni also delighted fans by facing just two balls and scoring five runs, including a first-ball boundary.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s attacking batting strategy failed once more as they were bundled out for 134 runs in 18.5 overs. They could not recover from Deshpande’s three early wickets with the new ball and tight bowling in the middle overs. CSK got back to winning ways after a two-match losing streak. The five-time champions are now in third place in the standings with 10 points, equalling Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals. Despite 10 points, Sunrisers Hyderabad slipped to fourth after their fourth defeat.
