Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s absence from South Africa series battles RP Singh

In December, India will play a two-match Test series, three ODIs, and three T20Is against South Africa. The away series is set to begin in Durban on December 10.

On Thursday, November 30, the BCCI revealed the Indian team for the tour of South Africa. While Rohit Sharma will captain the Indian team during Test matches, he will not be available to play alongside Virat Kohli in white-ball cricket.

In his place, KL Rahul will captain India in the three-match ODI series, while Suryakumar Yadav was named captain for the T20I series.

The Indian team for the ODI series against the Proteas has undergone significant changes. From the ODI World Cup 2023 squad, only Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Kuldeep Yadav were kept in the team. Regarding the Twenty20 Internationals, the 17-man team featured seven players who competed in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

RP Singh, a former Indian pacer who was a member of the team that won the 2007 T20 World Cup, questioned the decision to leave out Bhuvneshwar Kumar m after the BCCI announced the Indian squad for the South Africa tour on Thursday.

After playing for India in 21 Tests, 121 ODIs, and 87 T20Is thus far, the 33-year-old senior pacer’s absence startled RP Singh. He claimed that Bhuvneshwar has appeared really fit and energetic this season. He tweeted about his disappointment-

Bhuvneshwar last played for India in an ODI on January 21, 2022, in Paarl against South Africa. He also last played in a T20I on November 22, 2022, in Napier against New Zealand.
