Former India player Suresh Raina lauded Suryakumar Yadav for taking a sensational catch of David Miller in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Final against South Africa. With the Proteas needing 16 runs off 6 balls in the final over, Miller hit Hardik Pandya’s full toss high in the air and it looked like a certain six.
However, the southpaw couldn’t connect it properly and Suryakumar grabbed it near the long off boundary rope. SKY had to throw the ball in the air as he was about to cross the boundary cushion. He came back on time to complete the catch.
“I will remember Suryakumar Yadav’s catch for the rest of my life. It brought back the memories of Kapil Dev taking memorable catch of Vivian Richards in the final of the 1983 World Cup,” Suresh Raina said.
Raina also lauded Axar Patel for his all-round contributions. “Axar Patel was the unsung hero of the Indian team. He scored runs when needed and even took wickets in the powerplay overs,” he added.
India defeated South Africa by 7 runs to lift the T20 World Cup trophy for the second time. The Men in Blue were welcomed by the fans in Delhi, with Prime Minister also meeting the winning squad.
