Shakib always tries to find something wrong: Manjrekar slams Bangladesh all-rounder for unnecessarily blaming Dutch batters for his mistake

Shakib Al Hasan has a habit of creating controversy. His short-tempered nature has landed him in trouble on several occasions. In the Bangladesh vs. Netherlands match in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, he unnecessarily started taking on the rival players during the 16th over of the Netherlands’ chase. Scott Edwards played a shot towards the long-on area for a single. Shakib tried to stop the ball but couldn’t and the star player reacted angrily towards the Dutch batters, accusing them of preventing him from getting his hands on the ball.

Before he could say something nasty, the on-field umpire told him to move away and complete his over. Even the Bangladesh wicketkeeper Liton Das didn’t look happy with the behavior of the veteran player. Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar, who was in the commentator box, slammed Shakib.

‘Shakib has a habit of finding something wrong in everything. The non-striker was right, as he was acting within the rules to keep his bat behind the crease. Shakib reacted without any fault of the batter.

“This is how he plays his cricket. We all remembered what he did with Angelo Mathews in the 2023 ODI World Cup. The Sri Lankan batter was timed out after the then Bangladesh captain Shakib appealed against him for wasting time while facing the first ball following his arrival at the crease. He will do anything to win the game,” Sanjay Manjrekar said on Star Sports.

Shakib scored an unbeaten 64 runs in his team’s win by 25 runs and was named the Player of the Match.
