Toyota production and sales have soared to new heights and from January to November, the Japanese car manufacturer built 9.23 million vehicles and sold 9.36 million vehicles.

Thanks to the semiconductor shortage as well as strong demand for its vehicles in North America and across Europe, Toyota expects to finish 2023 having built more than 10 million Toyota and Lexus-branded vehicles. It enjoyed a particularly strong November with 926,573 vehicles being produced, of which 611,656 were built outside of Japan while the remaining 314,917 cars were manufactured locally.

Toyota wouldn’t have been able to reach new production heights were it not for strong demand. Japanese newspaper The Mainichi notes that it sold 905,066 vehicles in November, a 13.6% increase from the previous year and a single-month record. Demand within Japan proved particularly strong, jumping by 27.1% to 139,749 units while global sales rose by 11.5% to 765,317 units. Sales of the company’s electrified vehicles rose by 53.4% in November to 343,981 units.

The carmaker’s sales have been tracking well throughout the year. Toyota has reported 10 consecutive months of year-over-year sales increases globally and 11 consecutive months of growing sales in Japan itself. Production has also grown for 11 consecutive months this year.
