2025 Kia Seltos Gets Dumbed Down As S Variant Drops 10-Inch Display

  • Kia has introduced the 2025 Seltos.
  • It costs $100 more than its predecessor and sports a handful of relatively minor updates.
  • While most of the changes are good, the S variant loses its 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

Kia has taken the wraps off the 2025 Seltos, which will be arriving at dealerships shortly. When it does, it will cost $100 more than its predecessor as pricing begins at $24,590.

Since the crossover received a facelift last year, the changes are relatively minor this time around. However, Kia said there are “new standard features and improvements across all trim levels.”

The bulk of the changes apply to the mid-level Seltos EX, which now comes equipped with Parking Distance Warning-Reverse and a Smart Power Liftgate on all-wheel drive variants. These changes also apply to the range-topping Seltos SX, but the EX offers a new sunroof package.

The value-focused Seltos S begins at $25,090 and wears new 17-inch alloy wheels with a two-tone finish. The model also gains a driver’s window with auto up and down, which is a minor change from auto down only.

Unfortunately, it’s not all good news as a 4.25-inch cluster display replaces the previous 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. That’s disappointing, but at least the S variant eschews the $100 price increase.

Besides the aforementioned changes, Kia mentioned an “updated interior featuring improved materials and finishes that elevate the driving experience.” The company didn’t elaborate, but confirmed the Seltos EX AWD now comes with a cargo cover.

The LX, S, and EX variants are all powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 146 hp (109 kW / 148 PS) and 132 lb-ft (179 Nm) of torque. They’re connected to a continuously variable transmission, which enables the crossover to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in an underwhelming 9.3 seconds. When equipped with all-wheel drive, that time increases to 10.1 seconds.

Buyers looking for better performance can opt for the SX or X-Line variants. They have a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine with 195 hp (145 kW / 198 PS) and 195 lb-ft (264 Nm) of torque. They’re connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system. This setup enables them to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 8.4 seconds.
