  • Ferrari has invited its wealthiest clients for the F250, the successor to LaFerrari.
  • Invite box opens to reveal a sketch of hypercar that echoes 2022’s virtual Vision GT concept.
  • F250, or whatever the final version will be called, is expected to feature a hybrid V6.

Update 6/30: Our spies have spotted another prototype of Ferrari’s F250 hypercar cruising the roads near Maranello, as we inch closer to the official reveal. The car remains heavily camouflaged, but its silhouette appears to match the outline teased in the invitation. According to our spy shooters, the new hypercar has an extremely low and flat profile in person and will feature upward-opening doors.

New Ferrari hypercars only come along once a decade, and the folks at Maranello are annoyingly good at keeping their design secret until they’re ready for us to see the finished result. But it looks like the brand’s best customers might have been sent a hint of what to expect when the successor to 2014’s LaFerrari drops later this year.

Currently codenamed F250, but sure to feature another name when it debuts, Ferrari’s flagship has been spotted numerous times on the road close to the Maranello factory, but always wearing either rigid disguise panels or a full suit of black cloth camo that obscures the finer details of the shape.

But one wealthy Australian fan @ferraricollectoraus revealed on Instagram that he’d been sent an invite for the launch of the new car, and posted several pictures of the handsome red invite box, including a line drawing inside it that must surely be a teaser for the production model.

The simple silhouetted illustration is made up of just six individual pen strokes, but shows a car with a strong line running nose to tail, bisecting the front wheel arches and clipping the rears. It also features a pinched waist making the profile appear lean and athletic, pronounced front fender peaks, and an almost flat rear deck and tail section.

We’ve been expecting the F250 to be heavily influenced by Ferrari’s two-time Le Mans-winning 499P whose hybrid-assisted V6 powertrain is also expected to feature on the road car. But as The Drive notes, the car in the drawing looks more than a little like the 2022 Vision Gran Turismo, a virtual concept Ferrari created for gamers.

The Vision GT concept claimed to be powered by a 120-degree, 3.0-liter V6 that generated 1,016 hp (1,030 PS) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm), and was assisted by a 322 hp (326 PS / 240 kW) tri-motor hybrid system that gave the car all-wheel drive.

Ferrari quoted a 2,756-lbs (1,250 kg) dry weight and said the GT could sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 2 seconds and 124 mph (200 km/h) in under 5 seconds and lap its Fiorano test track in less than 1 minute 10 seconds – which would make it a crazy 10 seconds faster than LaFerrari.
