India National Cricket Team’s off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin recently picked players with the best pull shot and cover drive. He didn’t take Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s names but went with the Australian and Englishman.
He took part in a Q&A session on journalist Vimal Kumar’s YouTube channel. Virat and Rohit are renowned for their cover drive and pull shot, but Ashwin named Marcus Trescothick and Ricky Ponting.
Trescothick played 76 Tests, 123 ODIs and 3 T20Is for England, scoring 10236 runs. However, stress-related issues cut short his career, and he announced his retirement from international cricket in 2008.
Ponting accumulated 27483 runs in his international career.
Marcus is currently associated with England’s coaching staff in white-ball cricket, while Ponting is the head coach of one of the franchises in Major League Cricket. He also works as a commentator.
Meanwhile, R Ashwin, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will represent India in the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh. They have joined the Men in Blue in Chennai. The opening game will start from September 19 and the hosts are looking strong.
