“Champions Trophy shouldn’t happen”: Rashid Latif urges Pakistan to boycott before India refuse

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif doesn’t want ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to take place. He is changing statements every week and has now urged Pakistan to boycott the global tournament before India refuse. Earlier, he had urged the ICC to take away the hosting rights of all the tournaments scheduled in India and Pakistan. Meanwhile, the apex body of International Cricket has succeeded in breaking the deadlock between the two countries.

The tournament will be played in a hybrid model, with the Men in Blue playing their matches in Dubai. Also, all the tournaments in India until 2027 will be played using a similar formula.

BCCI had refused to send the team to Pakistan because of the government’s decision and requested the ICC to play their matches in the UAE. Pakistan said no to India’s request, and the two boards got stuck before ICC’s warning to the host nation cleared the decks for the Champions Trophy.

“Champions Trophy shouldn’t happen. You should say no before they refuse. ECB, ACP and ICC can’t fight with the BCCI. They have got a chance to push Pakistan. There is a fear that if India boycott us, where are we standing. We should look at that before taking any decision,” he said.
