Pakistan will rely on Babar Azam in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. If he is able to perform for the Men in Green, the defending champions will progress in the tournament. Babar hasn’t been at his best in recent times, and the decision to open with him in the fifty-over format has back-fired. The right-handed batter registered ordinary scores in the tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa.
Former India player Mohammad Kaif has hailed the star batter, calling him the backbone of the batting unit. Babar has an impressive track record in one-day internationals.
“What Virat Kohli does for India, Babar Azam is doing for Pakistan. He is the backbone of Pakistan, and if he performs, Pakistan will go forward in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
“He is a class batter and is averaging 55 in this format of the game. His average is above 60 in Pakistan. Babar’s presence will also help Fakhar Zaman to play his aggressive brand of cricket,” Mohammad Kaif said.
Pakistan have matches against New Zealand, India, and Bangladesh in the global tournament.
