“Glenn Maxwell is not a Big Show but a No Show”: Former players slams careless batter for his performance in IPL 2025

Glenn Maxwell has been the biggest flop in the history of the Indian Premier League. Despite his ordinary performances over the years, Ricky Ponting forced the Punjab Kings owners to invest INR 4.20 crore in the Australian all-rounder’s services. Ponting has seen Maxwell failing in the cash-rich league, but the Australian connection was preferred over the best interest of the franchise.

In 6 matches in the 18th season, he has amassed 41 runs at an average of 10.25 and a strike rate of 105.12. The right-handed batter has recorded scores of 0, 30, 1, 3 and 7.

His name is Big Show due to his hitting abilities, but the IPL is still waiting to see his attacking brand of cricket consistently. Aakash Chopra slammed the cricketer for his non-performance in the best T20 tournament in the world.

“Glenn Maxwell is living on borrowed time in IPL 2025. He is not a Big Show but a No Show,” Aakash Chopra said.

Harbhajan Singh was also miffed with Maxwell. “He hasn’t done anything. I don’t know when the Punjab Kings are going to drop him from the Playing XI. He is a careless batter and his double hundred against Afghanistan in the 2023 World Cup had luck written over it as his catches were dropped,” Harbhajan Singh said.

In the latest match against Kolkata Knight Riders, he was dismissed for 7 runs, with Punjab posting 111 runs in 15.3 overs. Harhsit Rana (3 wickets), Varun Chakravarthy (2 wickets), Sunil Narine (2 wickets), Vaibhav Arora (1 wicket) and Anrich Nortje (1 wicket) bowled well for the defending champions.
