“Even the centurion of the last match couldn’t hit him.” 31-year-old Mumbai Indians bowler hailed for his outstanding spell against SRH

Mumbai Indians bowlers were spot on in their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 18th season of the tournament. They restricted the visiting team to 162/5 in 20 overs. Mumbai completed the chase in 18.1 overs with 4 wickets in hand after some nervy moments in the middle.

The five-time champions’ big hitters played aggressively, but there was a lack of intent to carry on until the end. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah, who was playing his third match, returned to his best. After struggling a bit in the previous two contests against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians, Bumrah showed why he is among the best bowlers in the world.

He didn’t allow Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma to launch an assault on his franchise and kept things tight in the death overs, conceding just 21 runs from four overs. He took the wicket of Heinrich Klaasen, who was trying to shift gears and had already smashed Deepak Chahar for 21 runs in one over.

Mohammad Kaif hailed the speedster for his terrific bowling. “He bowled cleverly. Bumrah didn’t rely on fast deliveries but mixed it up beautifully. He bowled slow balls and yorkers. Even the last match’s centurion (Abhishek Sharma) couldn’t hit him. He took Klaasen’s wicket otherwise, the score would have been 180.

“Bumrah used the Yorker to good effect. After two bad games, he returned to form. Hardik gave him two overs in the powerplay, which restricted the SRH batters. A team, who scored 245 (246) in the last game, was restricted,” he said.
