BCCI gets Sourav Ganguly’s support after suspension of IPL 2025

Due to security concerns amid military tension between India and Pakistan, the BCCI has suspended the IPL 2025 for a week, leaving the future of the 18th season uncertain. All the stakeholders and fans are in a state of uncertainty.

Indian cricket legend and former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly is still sure that the IPL will go as planned, even though there is a lot of doubt. He voiced confidence in the BCCI’s ability to fix the matter and get things back on track.

In his conversation with India Today, Ganguly discussed the difficulties encountered during the IPL in 2020 and 2021, when the competition had to be rescheduled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. “Even though 2020 and 2021 were hard years, the IPL was conducted. The BCCI functions in a systematic way and I am sure this year’s editon will be completed soon,” he said.

Ganguly also expressed confidence in BCCI’s professionalism. There are 17 matches left to play, including the postponed PBKS versus DC match and the four playoff games.

“BCCI will definitely complete the IPL season. The tournament will be extended if needed,” he added.

Ganguly also mentioned that the current scenario is not comparable to the disruptions created by the COVID-19 pandemic. The IPL was moved to the UAE in 2020 and 2021.

Ganguly also urged the BCCI to work closely with ministers and government agencies.

“A situation like Covid just cannot happen again. Matches were played during Covid and the instructions given by the Indian government were followed. I think BCCI should work closely with the agencies before restarting the season this year,” he concluded.
