Enjoy Nothing But The Sights And Sounds Of The New Porsche 911 GT3

There are few driver’s cars as iconic as the Porsche 911 GT3 and a short clip released by the German automaker shows the current model being put to the test along a particularly fabulous road in the U.S.

The video, regrettably lasting only a minute, was shot on the breathtaking Iron Mountain Road near the Mount Rushmore monument in South Dakota. It was predominantly filmed using a drone, offering us an exhilarating and high-octane view of the GT3 as it was pushed to its limits on the road.

The lack of other cars suggests that Porsche had a section of road closed off to make the video and while it alone may not sell any additional GT3s, it appeals to enthusiasts like ourselves by helping to capture the essence of driving that we all love. Santa fell short of gifting us the GT3 that we asked for 2023, but there’s always next year.

Porsche introduced the current 992-generation GT3 back in early 2021 and like its predecessor, it is powered by a 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated six-cylinder pumping out 503 hp at 8,400 rpm and 347 lb-ft (470 Nm) of torque at 6,250 rpm. The coupe revs all the way up to 9,000 rpm, producing one of the most exhilarating sounds among modern sports cars in the process.

Making the GT3 all the more desirable is that it is one of the few remaining sports cars still offered with a six-speed manual transmission which routes power through the rear wheels. The 911 series itself may be decades old but Porsche has been able to perfect the formula over the years and it’s little wonder why it remains so well regarded.
