  • Our spy photographers caught the facelifted Jeep Grand Cherokee testing out in the open.
  • The light camouflage hides a new front bumper with revised intakes and relocated ADAS sensors.
  • The refreshed model is expected to debut next year, bringing exterior, interior, and mechanical upgrades.

Just a few weeks after the official confirmation of an upcoming facelift for the Jeep Grand Cherokee, prototypes of the SUV made their first appearance on public roads.

Our spy photographers caught two different prototypes of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, testing alongside a pre-facelifted example. Judging from the 21-inch alloy wheels, both the white and silver models appear to be the high-spec Summit trim.

Besides covering the Jeep and Grand Cherokee emblems with black tape, the company added camouflage only to the front end. After all, this is expected to be the focus of the visual updates, with the rest of the bodywork being carried over.

Despite the cover, we can spot a new pair of vertical DRLs, hints of the redesigned intakes, and relocated ADAS sensors. The headlights appear to retain their shape but could benefit from revised LED graphics. The same could happen with the taillights, alongside mild tweaks on the rear bumper that could appear in later prototypes.

A look inside the cabin reveals that the center console has been covered, hiding the upcoming infotainment upgrades. The relocated sensors on the exterior make us believe that Jeep could further improve the active safety of the Grand Cherokee, which already comes with limited hands-free driving capabilities in certain trims.

At the moment we don’t have official information about any mechanical upgrades. However, it is rumored that the facelifted Grand Cherokee will drop the V6 and V8 from the lineup. The 4xe (PHEV) could be joined by a turbocharged ICE option, which could be the Hurricane 3.0-liter inline-six from the larger Wagoneer.

The fifth-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee was introduced in long-wheelbase form in January 2021, followed by the debut of the standard model in September 2021. The facelifted versions of both models are expected to arrive next year, possibly as a 2026 MY. These will be joined by a refreshed Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, as well as new generations of the Compass and Cherokee.
