The year is drawing to a close, but it wouldn’t be right to end 2023 without yet another incident involving a Ford Mustang and this one is particularly spectacular.

A short video of the crash has been doing the rounds on social media and while it is scant on details, what it does show is yet another instance of a Mustang driver seemingly unable to control all of the grunt from its engine and the fact that it only has two driven wheels. It serves as a good reminder of just how important it is to know your limits as well as the limits of the car you are driving.

While the clip is short, it just manages to capture the moment the driver of the pony car lost control and initially slammed into a light pole, knocking it down. This impact immediately triggers the curtain airbags and a split second later, the Ford then crashes over the curb and slams into a tree. Three pedestrians can be seen on the side of the road and were almost taken out by the Ford but were able to quickly escape its path. One of them can also thank the tree as it too blocked the Ford and prevented it from slamming into them.

It’s difficult to say how much damage was done to the Ford but it looks like quite a hefty impact and the car will inevitably need some costly repairs. Thankfully, the driver doesn’t appear to have been injured as they can be seen getting out of the ‘Stang shortly after the impact.

Without speaking to the driver, it’s impossible to pinpoint the cause of the crash. However, if we were to guess, we suspect that disabling the traction / stability control may have played a part.
