- The new Jeep Compass shows more skin in teasers ahead of its global debut.
- It has been confirmed that production of the SUV will begin in Italy this year.
- However, the North American launch of the Jeep Compass might be delayed.
Stellantis has published more teasers of the new generation of the Jeep Compass, announcing that its global debut will take place in Europe this spring.
European production of the new Compass will start this year at the Melfi plant in Italy. This was confirmed to Carscoops last month by Stellantis spokesperson Lou Ann Gosselin. On the contrary, work for the Compass at the Brampton Assembly Plant in Canada has been temporarily paused, as Stellantis reassesses its product strategy in North America.

Following the original teaser that showed the profile of the Compass, Jeep has now revealed more design features. The SUV retains the characteristic seven-slot grille flanked by a pair of boxier headlights. These are reminiscent of the Jeep Recon, although in the Compass they are slimmer. We can also see the LED graphics of the taillights, which follow the curvature of the toned rear shoulders.
Jeep’s new SUV will ride on the STLA Medium architecture, which is shared with the Peugeot 3008/5008, Opel Grandland, DS No8, and the upcoming Citroen C5 Aircross. It has also been confirmed that the Jeep Compass will offer hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric powertrain options, with all-wheel drive available on “select models”.
The automaker has promised that the new Compass will bring “affordable Jeep capability, best-in-class performance, and state-of-the-art technology”.
As with other mechanically-related SUVs, it will likely feature the latest connectivity and ADAS features from Stellantis’ parts bin. However, we expect the Compass to have a more adventurous character with flashy interior accents, similar to the smaller Avenger.
We should learn more about the new Jeep as we move closer to its debut this spring. While the European launch is still expected within 2025, we don’t really know when we’re going to see the Compass in North America. It has been reported that Stellantis might reevaluate the launch of the battery electric version on this side of the Atlantic, with the shake-up potentially causing a delay of up to a full year.
