Aakash Chopra said that Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) won’t retain Pat Cummins for IPL 2025. He mentioned that the team management might think twice before retaining the Aussie star for INR 18 crore after his statements.
SRH appointed Cummins their captain for the 17th season of the tournament after buying him for INR 20.50 crore. The pacer led the franchise to the finale but the Orange Army lost to Kolkata Knight Riders.
“Pat Cummins has said that he is not sure of his participation in the Indian Premier League as his priorities are different. He wants to give more time to Test cricket and the World Cups. He also spoke about the new rules,” Aakash Chopra said.
“Cummins also said that he hasn’t skipped the league after giving his name for the auction. However, Mitchell Starc and other Australia players have done it. Sunrisers Hyderabad won’t retain him. He will not get INR 18 crore. I am getting this feeling despite his good performance in IPL 2024,” he added.
Aakash Chopra opined that Pat Cummins might not give his name for the mega auction. He added that the speedster could not be keen play for the Hyderabad-based franchise.
Cummins took 18 wickets at an economy rate of 9.27 in 16 innings in the previous season.
