Aakash Chopra has compared MS Dhoni with Michael Bevan of Australia. He said that Dhoni had game awareness similar to that of the legendary Aussie player. Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2020. He was renowned for winning the close games and keeping calm under pressure.
Due to his nature, Dhoni led India to three ICC titles and even informed brilliantly as a batter and wicketkeeper.
Chopra said that Dhoni was the best finisher to have played the game.
“Whenever a book is written on cricket, the finishing chapter will be written on Dhoni. There hasn’t been a better finisher than him in cricket history,” Akash Chopra said.
In successful run-chases, Dhoni accumulated 2876 runs from 116 one-day internationals at an average of 102.71 and a strike-rate of 88 with two centuries and 20 half-centuries.
“Dhoni was compared with Bevan because of hius finishing abilities. Mitchell Bevan was one of the best. Very few peole have batted better than the Aussie star,” he added.
“Michael Bevan was about singles, doubles, and running. Dhoni was about singles, doubles, fours, and sixes. His game awareness was as good as Bevan.”
Dhoni is getting ready to lead Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League 2024.
