Aakash Chopra has said that he believes what Hanuma Vihari is saying against the mistreatment at the hands of the Andhra Pradesh Cricket Association.
Vihari made shocking allegations against the state cricket association after Andhra Pradesh’s defeat to Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinals.
Chopra said he respects Vihari and how he has battled injuries to play for India and his state.
The former player said that he would believe what Vihari was saying.
“The blame game is being played from both sides. From being a player, you would go with the other player’s version. Hanuma Vihari is no ordinary player. He batted for Andhra with one hand when his other hand was fractured.
“He is an amazing player and helped Andhra qualify. He has led the team, and I have a lot of respect for him. He played with a torn hamstring in a Sydney Test against Australia, putting his career on the line for the country. I believe Hanuma Vihari,” said Chopra.
Hanuma Vihari’s problem with ACA
Vihari posted a statement on Instagram accusing the ACA of forcing him to resign from captaincy because he shouted at a politician’s son.
The middle-order batter even shared a letter of support from other players. In his conversation with India Today, Vihari said that he wanted the world to know what was happening to him.
“I was hurt but was silent for the sake of the team and the players. When the season ended, I decided to stand for myself and informed the world about the behaviour meted out to me by ACA. I was forced to resign. We were playing fine as a team and everything went wrong the moment a painful episode unfolded with me,” said Vihari.
