If a player suffers an external injury in the playing area and cannot continue playing, his team will be allowed to seek a like-for-like replacement by the match referee.

“If a player suffers a serious injury and is ruled out of the match, Serious Injury Replacement may be permitted in the following circumstances. “The like-for-like replacement will be allowed,” the rule added. The rule is for senior and domestic tournaments. It will make its debut in the Duleep Trophy from August 28 and the Under-19 CK Nayudu Trophy.
