BCCI punishes Sanju Samson after Rajasthan Royals’ defeat against Delhi Capitals

Sanju Samson was controversially given out by the third umpire in the DC vs RR match. He was batting on 86 when Shai Hope caught him near the boundary rope. The on-field officials were not sure and the third umpire ruled in favour of the fielding team. Samson was miffed and argued with the officials. He wanted to taka a DRS but was not allowed as it was against the rules.

And now the Board of Control for Cricket in India has penalized Samson for showing dissent on umpire’s decision. He has been fined 30 percentage of his match fees by the officials. His dismissal changed the momentum of the match in Delhi’s favour as RR were restricted to 201/8 while chasing 222 in Delhi.

Former India players slammed the TV umpire for making a wrong decision. They accused him of not checking the replays from different angles.

“He should have taken some more time before giving Samson out. It appeared Shai Hope touched the boundary rope,” Zaheer Khan said.

“Umpires decision resulted in Rajasthan’s defeat. Samson was not out and the official made a blunder,” Suresh Raina said.

“Stop using technology if you can’t use it properly. Hope touched the rope twice,” Navjot Singh Sidhu said.
