The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to change its strict new family traveling rule for cricketers. The decision-makers devised a rule allowing the cricketers to keep their loved ones on a 45-day tour for two weeks. However, Virat Kohli slammed the board and highlighted the importance of family members staying with the players.
According to him, the cricketers will have no one to talk to after a hard day on the field. After India’s defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, the Indian cricket board introduced new guidelines for the centrally contracted players.
According to a report in India Today, the players can now get permission from the board if they want to keep their families for a longer duration of time.
“Players can seek permission if they want their families to stay longer on tours. The BCCI will then take a call,’ India Today quoted a source as saying.
Kohli had highlighted the issue during a promotional event for RCB ahead of the IPL 2025.
“If you ask any player, he would want his familyfamily members around. I don’t want to go to the room and sulk alone. I want to be normal, and this is where a family plays an important role. Playing cricket is a responsibility, and after finishing your responsibility, you want to return to your loved ones,” he said.
During India’s recent Champions Trophy campaign, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s wives attended several matches at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
