India will start a new era under Test captain Shubman Gill. With the retirement of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and R Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja are the two senior players in the squad. KL Rahul has played red-ball cricket for a long time, but the batter has failed to cement his place. Former India player Aakash Chopra has given a vital suggestion ahead of the Test series against England.
India will travel to England for five Tests starting June 20 at Leeds. The 25-year-old skipper supports fearless cricket and is backing the players to succeed in the European country. Meanwhile, Aakash urged him to form a leadership group.
“Shubman Gill should make a leadership group. Jasprit Bumrah will always be there. Keep Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Mohammed Siraj. Create a pack of wolves,” Aakash Chopra said.
“These boys will play together for a long time. They are of the same age group. You have to live this journey together. Go out to have food and visit malls for shopping. Travel together and try to spend time together,” he added.
Aakash also reacted to groups in the national team. “Senior players had their groups and were comfortable in their own space. They used to travel separately, and even the practice sessions were not held together. BCCI had to come up with rules to curb this issue. However, Shubman Gill has the opportunity to make a team of friends. It can do wonders.”
