“CSK should be given direct entry into IPL final and let other teams play league stage”: Ambati Rayudu

Former Chennai Super Kings player Ambati Rayudu said that the five-time champions should be given direct entry into the final of the Indian Premier League and let the other teams compete in the league stage. He commented after CSK’s impressive start to the season.

The defending champions are unbeaten in IPL 2024 and have defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans. Both games were one-sided, and there was hardly any trouble for the Yellow Army despite MS Dhoni not being their captain.

CSK’s new skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad, has done well and is leading the team from the front. The Chennai-based franchise is looking strong in all departments of the game despite injuries to a couple of players. Rayudu said that it would be difficult for other franchises to beat CSK.

“Chennai Super Kings should be given direct entry into the final of IPL and let other franchises compete in the league stage of the tournament. They are looking unstoppable in IPL 2024 and will play in the final. It will be difficult to defeat them in the ongoing edition,” he said on Star Sports.

Dhoni surprised everyone when he left the captaincy a day before the start of the new season and asked Ruturaj to lead the side. He had given a hint to the opening batter last season and kept his word.

Mahi is likely to retire after the 17th season and wants to make sure that Gaikwad is ready when he retires from the cash-rich league.
