CSK suffer blow as star bowler ruled out for 4-5 weeks with hamstring injury

Chennai Super Kings have been dealt a significant blow ahead of their opening game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on March 22. According to a report in Times of India, star bowler Matheesha Pathirana is out for 4-5 weeks due to a hamstring injury.

Pathirana has been missing from action since he picked up a niggle during the second T20I against Bangladesh.

Pathirana took 19 wickets in 12 matches in CSK’s title-winning season in IPL 2023.

‘The Grade 1 hamstring injury takes two weeks to recover. It remains to be seen if he can join CSK on time. At this point, it is hard to tell whether he will be available in the first phase of the league,” an IPL source had told PTI.

CSK opener Devon Conway is expected to miss the first half of the Indian Premier League after undergoing thumb surgery. He sustained a thumb injury during the T20I series against New Zealand.
