India defeated England by 106 runs in the second Test to level the series 1-1, with three matches left in the series. Chasing 399 runs to win, the Ben Stokes-led team was bowled out for 292 runs in the second innings. Former England player Owais Shah blamed Bazball for the Benn Stokes-led team. He didn’t take the name but highlighted the nature of England’s batters in the run-chase.
Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin were the star performers with the ball, with both picking up three wickets each. The remaining scalps were shared by Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Mukesh Kumar.
“England batters were in a hurry, and that’s why we lost the game. The score was within limits and had any batter stayed back, the team would have won the game. Ollie Pope was looking to take single or score boundaries on every ball, and the same happened with Joe Root. Root is a legend of the game, but he should have tried to stay at the crease. The wicket was good for batting, but the players didn’t stay long enough to make a charge for the total,” he said on Jio Cinema.
Zak Crawley was the only batter to score a fifty for the visitors. Almost all the batters got the starts but couldn’t convert them into a reasonably good individual scores. The batters went for the shots to close the game on Day four but paid a heavy price in the end.
The next game will be played in Rajkot, but the selectors haven’t announced the team yet. There is no information on the injured KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja. Virat Kohli hasn’t made himself available after missing the first two games due to personal reasons.
On the other hand, England would like to stage a comeback in the series. They won the first game by 28 runs on the back of some brilliant performances by Ollie Pope and Tom Hartley.
