Gerald Coetzee ruled out of second Test against India

Fast bowler Gerald Coetzee has been ruled out of the second Test between South Africa and India due to pelvic inflammation. He was injured during the opening game against the Rohit Sharma-led team. Gerald Coetzee took 1 wicket in South Africa’s win by an innings and 32 runs.

He was sensational in the ICC World Cup 2023 and took 20 wickets in 8 matches at an average of 19.80. Overall, he has taken 10 wickets at an average of 24.50. Coetzee was recently bought by Mumbai Indians for the Indian Premier League 2024. Lungi Ngidi is likely to replace him in the last contest.

Meanwhile, South Africa scored 408 in their only innings in the Centurion Test, while India were dismissed for 245 & 131.

Dean Elgar scored 185 runs for the Proteas. In the bowling department, Kagiso Rabada (8 wickets) and Nandre Burger (7 wickets) helped South Africa in dismissing India cheaply. The sub-continent nation has never won a Test series in the Island Nation.
