“Hardik Pandya doesn’t deserve”: Tom Moody names two 18-crore bracket players for Mumbai Indians

Tom Moody questioned Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya’s retention value ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The franchises are expected to submit their retention lists by October 31. The highest value for the retained player is INR 18 crore, while the second and third retentions will get INR 14 crore and INR 11 crore. The fourth and fifth retention will be valued at INR 18 crore and INR 14 crore.

“Things didn’t look good for Mumbai Indians in the last season of the Indian Premier League. Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav are the 18-crore bracket players for me. Hardik should be kept at INR 14 crore. His form and fitness are big concerns, and when you take this into account, you will see that he doesn’t deserve to get INR 18 crore,” Moody said on ESPNcricinfo.

“If you are a genuine match-winner and contribute regularly, you can get INR 18 crore. However, Hardik is battling for form and fitness,” he added.

Hardik returned to Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans last year and was given captaincy.

However, he was all over the place as a player and skipper. His batting average was 18 with the bat and 35.18 with the ball as Mumbai finished last in the points table, having registered four wins in 14 matches.
