Ravi Shastri recently compared Jasprit Bumrah’s control with the ball with Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Shane Warne. Bumrah was sensational in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and was named the Player of the Tournament for taking 15 wickets.
Speaking about Bumrah’s performance in the World Cup, Shastri said that the seamer’s control on the ball made it difficult for the batters to score runs against him.
“Bumrah showed the world what he is capable of with the ball. He has the ability to make the ball do all the talking. Such skills are very rare,” Shastri said on ICC review.
Shastri compared Bumrah to Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Shane Warne.
“Very few had that kind of control on the ball. Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis had it during their prime days. Shane Warne was remarkable with the ball. I think Bumrah had that in the T20 World Cup,” he added.
Bumrah was rested after the global tournament. He missed the T20I series against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. Jasprit is not playing in the three-match ODI series as well.
He is likely to return for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
