Australian players were talking about Cheteshwar Pujara and how his absence from the Indian team was good news for them. However, they never expected that Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul would completely dominate them. The two openers not only hit the fifties but also took the lead to 218 runs. Jaiswal (90) and Rahul (62) didn’t give many chances to the Australian fast bowlers on the seaming track of Perth that got flattened on day 2 of the game.
The left-handed batter was the most aggressive of the two and even used his feat against Nathan Lyon. Rahul played textbook strokes and announced his return to form after a difficult time against New Zealand. Former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram was surprised to see the body language of the Austrian speedsters.
“I haven’t seen this kind of body language of the Australian pacers. Their shoulders are down, and they don’t know what they should do in front of KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Even other Aussie cricketers are not looking confident. All the credit goes to the Indian batters and also the way Jasprit Bumrah and other bowlers bowled to Australia in their first innings.
“Australia are not used to seeing other teams dominating them in Perth, but this Indian team has done the unthinkable,” Wasim Akram said on Star Sports.
India were bowled out for 150 runs but restricted Australia to 104.
