Birmingham Phoenix captain Moeen Ali has said that he would have called up James Anderson if there was an injury concern in The Hundred 2024. The pitches have been helpful for the seamers.
Anderson recently said that he was considering returning to the white-ball format after watching the ball doing a bit in The Hundred. His last T20 game for Lancashire came in 2014, and with his international career over, he can play in leagues.
Tim Southee, Sean Abbott, and Adam Milne have been impressive for Moeen Ali’s team. Southee has taken 14 wickets in eight matches.
“Last year Woaksey and other guys bowled well. You want a Test bowler, who can bowl in the right areas. If we had an injury, I would have called up Jimmy Anderson and he would have been awesome. The pacers are swinging the ball in every game. I we had an injury issue, I would have talked about it,” Moeen Ali said.
“I would have tried to get Jimmy play. Other teams would have done the same. H would be amazing in this format of the game. James Anderson is the best bowler when the ball starts swinging. We had Woody as a cover for him. Woody is a great guy but you can’t beat the expereince of Jimmy Anderson,” he added.
