Jasprit Bumrah started his Test career on pitches in South Africa and became an instant hit in 2016. The trend continued and he took wickets in overseas conditions. There were speculations that he would struggle on the spin-friendly tracks in India, but the speedster proved his doubters wrong.
In his most recent test match in Vizag, he took 9 wickets against England and helped India win the game by 106 runs. He was named the Player of the Match. The 30-year-old seamer has taken 15 wickets in two Tests so far, with both teams winning one each. Former Australia captain Michael Clarke hailed Bumrah for his bowling.
“What I can say about Jasprit Bumrah. He is a freak on pitches that are not made for the pacers. The ball he bowled to Ollie Pope was one of the best. He keeps delivering match-winning performances for India. He has been sensational so far,’ Michael Clarke said on ESPN Australia.
Aaron Finch also joined the discussion on Bumrah. “He is difficult to face as he doesn’t give you a chance to score runs. Bumrah has a lethal bouncer, yorker and can move the ball both ways. Jasprit has a short run-up but he is really fast and can surprise any batter,” Aaron Finch commented.
Another Australian player, Callum Ferguson, lauded the Indian spearhead.
“He bowls from close to the stump, and the batter gets less time to react to his deliveries in comparison to other bowlers. Bumrah is at you all the time.”
There is still no confirmation on Jasprit’s availability for the upcoming game, as the management is considering giving him rest for the Rajkot Test to manage his workload. He bowled tiring spells in the first two matches, and there is a risk of him picking up an injury,
KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, who missed the second Test due to injuries, are ready to play and will be drafted into the side. The two contributed in the Hyderabad game, which India lost by 28 runs.
James Anderson was outstanding in the second Test, says Michael Clarke
Clarke was pretty impressed with James Anderson, who took important wickets in the second Test. “James Anderson was outstanding in the game. He bowled wicket-taking balls on a track that had nothing for him. Jimmy showed his class once again in Test cricket,” he said.
