Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling action gets clean chit from Australian legend, calls out doubters

Some of the prominent social media handles have been targeting Jasprit Bumrah for his bowling action, calling it illegal. Former Australian player Greg Chappell has given a befitting reply to such critics, claiming that Bumrah’s bowling action is clean.

Former India head coach commented after the pacer took 8 wickets in Team India’s win in the first Test of the five-match series in Australia.

Bumrah, who led India in Rohit Sharma’s absence, was unplayable and rattled the hosts. In his column for The Sydney Moring Herald, Chappell wrote that putting a question mark on the pacer’s action is a blot on Bumrah’s abilities and skills.

“Stop this nonsense of questioning Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling action. It is unique and clean. It demeans a champion bowler and the sport to even speak about it.”

Chappell mentioned that Australia’s batting was more concerning than their bowling.

“Australia’s bowler bowled out India for 150 in the first innings. It was a good start. It was Australia’s batting performance that was more concerning. India’s bowling attack led by Bumrah looked sharper and more accurate. Australia were bowled out for 104, with Bumrah proving dangerous.”

Chasing a target of 534 runs, Australia were dismissed for 238 and lost the Test by 295 runs.
