KL Rahul leaves Lucknow Super Giants, four franchises to bid for him in IPL 2025 mega auction

Team India wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul has decided to leave the Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Gujarat Titans (GT), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will bid for the player in the auction.

He joined LSG for INR 17 crore in IPL 2022 and led the franchise for three years. “Lucknow Super Giants were ready to offer him top retention slot, but the veteran decided to leave due to personal and professional reasons,” a source told TOI.

Lucknow made it to the playoffs twice under KL Rahul’s captaincy. Now, he is expected to start a bidding war between Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan Royals, and the Chennai Super Kings.

He has amassed 4,683 runs at an average of 45 and a strike rate of 134 in the Indian Premier League. However, his strike rate has been an issue, considering the nature of the shortest format of the game.

In the 17th season, he accumulated 520 runs at an average of 37.14 and a strike rate of 136.13 in 14 matches. He hit three fifties and recorded a highest score of 82.
