Mumbai Indians’ biggest match-winner declared fit, likely to return with a game against Delhi Capitals

Mumbai Indians have finally got good news after losing three games in a row. Their biggest match-winner, Suryakumar Yadav, has been declared for by the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and is likely to play against Delhi Capitals on Sunday.

He was out of action for months due to two back-to-back surgeries for an ankle issue and a sports hernia. He had failed in the previous fitness test before the start of IPL 2024 and went on to miss three games. His absence was felt as the rivals outplayed the five-time champions in three contests.

‘Suryakumar Yadav is fit now. He was made to play a few practice games, and he looked good. He can join the Mumbai Indians. We wanted to make sure that he was 100 percent fit before allowing him to return to his IPL franchise. SKY was not at his best in the first fitness test before the IPL, so his comeback was delayed. He was experiencing pain while batting,” a source in the BCCI confirmed, adding that the batsman had to undergo three fitness tests.

Yadav suffered a grade II tear in his ankle during the T20I series with South Africa. He had to go under the knife to deal with hernia as well.
