Former players have a habit of naming cricketers who are like MS Dhoni. Sunil Gavaskar hailed Dhruv Jurel as next Dhoni after his sensational debut in the Test series against England.
“He has a cool head like Dhoni. Dhruv Jurel is the next Dhoni in making. His wicket-keeping skills and batting under pressure have shades of the veteran cricketer,” Sunil Gavaskar said during the third Test against the Ben Stokes-led team. However, Jurel refused to accept his compliment.
Sanjay Manjrekar compared Riyan Parag with MSD. He commented after watching the young player’s batting for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024. “He takes time like MS Dhoni before hitting fours and sixes,” Manjrekar said.
Navjot Singh Sidhu found similarities between Dhoni and KKR batter Rinku Singh. “I like Rinku Singh a lot. He finishes games like MS Dhoni. Rinku doesn’t let the pressure get better of him. He has won several matches for Kolkata in challenging situations. Rinku has also become a match-winner for India,” Navjot Singh Sidhu said.
Rinku, Jurel and Parag are future of the Indian team. Rinku has played one-day internationals and T20 matches for the Men in Blue, while Dhruv has represented India in Test cricket. Parag is likely to get his India cap soon.
