Rajat Patidar doubtful for IPL 2025 match against KKR, RCB to name a new captain

The IPL 2025 will restart on May 17 with a match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. But the home franchise has suffered a big setback in the form of Rajat Patidar, who is likely to miss the clash, having failed to recover from an injury.

The right-handed batter was hit on the finger during the RCB vs CSK match. The suspension of the league for a week due to the tension between India and Pakistan gave him time to recover, but the batter still needs some time to return to action, as per an Indian Express report.

He might also miss the two-match unofficial Test series between India A and England Lions, which will be held just before India’s five-match Test series against the Ben Stokes team.

Rajat was supposed to be out of the game against the Lucknow Super Giants, but the IPL was suspended on the same day. Jitesh Sharma would have led the franchise if the match had taken place. However, there is no confirmation on the skipper for the upcoming match against Kolkata.

Josh Hazlewood, who was injured during one of the games in the current edition, is also doubtful as he has been named in Australia’s squad for the World Test Championship Final against South Africa, starting from June 11 at Lord’s.
