Chennai Super Kings have not gotten to a good start in the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League. After winning their opening match against Mumbai Indians, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s side has faced defeats against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals. CSK all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja took to social media to send a message to the fans and well-wishers of the franchise.
He shared a picture with MS Dhoni and mentioned that the franchise’s performance would improve.
Jadeja and Dhoni were in the middle but failed to take CSK to a win against RR. Chennai needed 39 runs off the last two overs, and the two hit Tushar Deshpande for 19 runs in the 19th over.
In the final over, Sandeep Sharma bowled well against the two greats. He dismissed Dhoni, and the 2008 champions registered a 6-run win.
MSD managed 16 runs off 11 balls, while Jadeja accumulated an unbeaten 32 runs off 22 balls.
Dhoni’s batting slot has been questioned by cricketer experts. He came at the no.9 position against Gujarat Titans, while the veteran batted at no.7 against the Riyan Parag-led team.
CSK head coach Stephen Fleming said that Dhoni can’t bat for a long time because of his knee issues.
“He can’t bat for 10 overs. His body and knees are not what they used to be in the past. He will go in early if the team has a chance to win a game,” Fleming said. CSK are currently in seventh place and will face Delhi Capitals on Saturday, April 5, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
