Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma landed in Colombo for the ODI series. Kohli reached the Island Nation on Monday afternoon of July 29, and Rohit, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Kuldeep Yadav, and Harshit Rana arrived on July 28.
Kohli and Sharma will take part in the net session before the start of the matches. The star duo announced their retirement from T20Is after India’s triumph in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Virat and Rohit wanted a break from 50-over games as well, but new head coach Gautam Gambhir urged them to make themselves available, and they agreed.
Kohli was in London with his family, while Rohit travelled to England and then the United States of America with Ritika Sajdeh and his daughter Samaira.
Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul are also making a return to the team, having last played in the 2023 ODI World Cup. All the players will train under India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar in Colombo.
The Indian team is currently in Pallekele for the ongoing T20I series. The Men in Blue have won two consecutive matches, with the 3rd T20I match scheduled on July 30.
