Overview:
Afridi recently reached a remarkable milestone during the first ODI against the West Indies in Trinidad.
Shaheen Afridi is set to play a key role for Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025. Fans will miss out on his much-anticipated battle with Virat Kohli, as the Indian legend has retired from T20 internationals. Kohli managed 88 runs against Afridi and lost his wicket twice. However, Kohli remains active in one-day internationals, and if he continues until the 2027 ODI World Cup, there is still a chance the cricket world could see the two face off once more.
During a recent podcast, Afridi revealed the toughest batter he has bowled to, and interestingly, the player did not hail from India, Australia, or England. “Hashim Amla. I’ve faced him in both Tests and ODIs, and he’s always been a really tough opponent. I also came up against him once in the Vitality Blast in England. He’s an outstanding batsman and truly exceptional,” Afridi said.
“Virat Kohli is a great player, but Hashim bhai is even tougher. He’s the hardest I’ve faced.”
Afridi recently reached a remarkable milestone during the first ODI against the West Indies in Trinidad. Pakistan chose to bowl first and dismissed the opposition for 280, despite half-centuries from Evin Lewis, Roston Chase, and skipper Shai Hope. The chase was completed in 48.5 overs with five wickets in hand, and Afridi’s four-wicket burst proved crucial. With that performance, he climbed to 131 wickets in just 65 ODIs.
This achievement placed Afridi at the top of the list for most wickets taken after 65 one-day internationals, overtaking Rashid Khan’s tally of 128.
