Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta slammed the third umpire for his six call during the IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Jaipur. She was not pleased after the official awarded just a single despite Karun Nair’s signal of six runs.
The incident happened on the final ball of the 15th over when DC fast bowler Mohit Sharma bowled a back-of-length delivery to lower-order batter Shashank Singh. Shashank’s stroke went towards long-on, where Nair jumped to grab the ball. He caught it but threw the ball back into the play after realizing that his body momentum would take him over the boundary rope. He signalled a six, thinking that his foot had touched the fencing.

However, the third umpire declared it a legal save, giving just 1 run to the batting side instead of a six after checking replays.
Zinta reacted to one of the tweets on X, mentioning that she spoke to Karun Nair.
“In a such a high profile tournament with so much technology at the Third Umpire’s disposal such mistakes are unacceptable & simply shouldn’t happen. I spoke To Karun after the game & he confirmed it was DEFINITELY a 6 ! I rest my case,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, Delhi defeated Punjab by 6 wickets. Chasing 207 runs, the Faf du Plessis-led team completed the task in 19.3 overs, with Karun Nair and Sameer Rizvi scoring fifties. Earlier, PBKS captain Shreyas struck a half-century while sensational batting by Marcus Stoinis took the score to 206/8.
