Team India get good news ahead of second Test vs Australia at the Adelaide Oval

Team India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, has left for Australia to join the players ahead of the pink-ball Test, set to start in Adelaide on December 6. As per ESPNCricinfo, the head of the coaching staff will join the visiting team on Tuesday. Earlier, he had returned to India for personal reasons.

Gambhir was not with the team during the warm-up game against Australia Prime Minister’s XI, which the Rohit Sharma-led team won by six wickets. The contest was reduced to a one-day after play was called off on Day 1 due to rain.

Cchasing 241 runs, the touring team had no difficulty. Shubman Gill scored a fifty. KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, and Nitish Kumar Reddy were impactful with the bat. Harshit Rana took 4 wickets to keep the rivals under control.

Gambhir was part of a 295-run win over the Pat Cummins-led team at the Optus Stadium in Perth.

In his absence, assistant coaches Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate and bowling coach Morne Morkel had overseen the practice sessions ahead of the warm-up match.

With Rohit and Shubman Gill’s return, Gambhir will have to make room for them, which means removing Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel for the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
