Ravichandran Ashwin is happy to return to Chennai Super Kings for the Indian Premier League 2025. After starting his career with the franchise, he played for the Men in Yellow for eight consecutive seasons. When CSK and Rajasthan Royals were banned for two years, he was signed by Rising Pune Supergiants. In the 2018 auction, he was picked up by Punjab Kings. He also played for Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals.
Chennai decided to bring him back to his native state in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The veteran thanked MS Dhoni for the special gift.
“I didn’t know MS Dhoni would give me the gift of being brought back to Chennai. So, thank you, MS, for doing it. I’m glad that I have returned to the franchise. I have come back to the franchise not as a bowler who achieved a lot in his career but as someone who wanted to play for the CSK again. It is a wonderful place,” he said.
Ashwin also revealed that he wanted to retire from Test cricket after his 100th match. He was up against England in Dharamshala and invited MS Dhoni to present him with the memento.
“I wanted to retire in Dharamshala after playing my 100th Test. I wanted MS Dhoni to hand over the momento to me but he couldn’t make it,” he added.
Chennai signed him for INR 9.75 crore, and he will likely play against Mumbai Indians on March 23.
