“The match was lost before he came into bat”: Kris Srikkanth slams Lucknow for sending Rishabh Pant to bat in 19.4 overs

Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant, mentor Zaheer Khan and heavy coach Justin Langer made a shocking decision in the IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capitals. The 27-crore signing was sent out to bat in the 19.4 overs and scored a two-ball duck.

He was patted up for a long time but stayed back in the dugout, with big hitter Abdul Samad and impact sub Ayush Badoni being preferred over him. The move backfired as Lucknow were restricted to 159/6 in 20 overs.

Former India player Kris Srikkanth slammed the franchise for their surprising move. Pant has been out of form since the first contest against his former franchise, Delhi Capitals. He scored just one half-century in the 18th season, and his form has become a concern for the side.

“Has the think tank drained out in the lsg dressing room! Absolute nonsense in not having a guy like pant bat more deliveries! The match was lost before he came into bat! Well played DC and brilliant bowling by Mukesh,” he wrote on X.

Pant was seen talking to Zaheer Khan before coming out to bat and looked frustrated.
