BCCI has informed the ICC that it will not send the Indian team to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan. Pakistan is hosting an ICC event for the first time since the 1996 ODI World Cup.
The Men in Blue haven’t played in Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup. BCCI mentioned that the Indian government has refused to permit them to participate in the global event in Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board has informed their national government about the new development.
PCB already rejected the hybrid model as they want to host the complete tournament.
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has blamed Pakistan. “It is decided and confirmed that India won’t be travelling to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and it is not the BCCI’s decision. The Indian cricket team has no role in the latest outcome. The Men in Blue can play against Pakistan if the matches are held at neutral venues or in India, but when it comes to competing in the neighbouring country, the Indian government takes a call.
“BCCI has communicated to the ICC that they don’t have permission to play in Pakistan. India are not going to Pakistan and they must blame themselves. I read about a bomb blast at a railway station in Quetta, and Pakistan always gets involved in the issue of Kashmir,” he said.
