India spinner Varun Chakravarthy has been winning matches in T20I. In the recently concluded five-match T20I series against England, he picked up 14 wickets and was adjudged the Player of the Series. Since returning to the team, he bowled well against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, South Africa and England.
However, despite churning out match-winning performances, he criticized himself after the fifth and final game at the Wankhede Stadium. Varun spoke to Harsha Bhogle at the post-match presentation ceremony.
“This is the best I have bowled in my career, but I also bowled a few loose deliveries, which I should not have done. You can’t take England lightly. I want to dedicate my Player of the Series award to my wife, son, and parents. I want to thank GG (Gautam Gambhir) and Surya (Suryakumar Yadav) for giving me chances and their trust in me,” Varun said.
He doesn’t play ODI cricket and Test format for the team. Varun was not considered for the fifty-over series against England and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He will now be seen in action for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League 2025. Chakravarthy was retained by the three-time champions, and his performances in the league will play a key role in the success and failure of the team.
