Virat Kohli has announced retirement from T20Is after winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. He was named the Player of the Match in the final between India and South Africa. The right-handed batter scored 76 runs off 59 balls, laced with 6 fours and 2 sixes.
“This is my last T20 World Cup and the last T20 match. It was a open secret. I am grateful to the God for giving me a chance to play a match-winning knock in the final. I didn’t do well in the tournament and wanted to do something special.
“It’s time for the new generation to take the team forward and I believe they will do it successfully,” he said.
