During the 1st Test against South Africa, star India batsman Virat Kohli notched up his 30th half-century in Test cricket, surpassing former batter VVS Laxman in the all-time Test run-scorers list for India.

Kohli’s impressive innings unfolded on Day 3 of the Boxing Day Test at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. The seasoned batsman reached his 30th half-century milestone by dispatching South African pacer Nandre Burger for a boundary through midwicket in the 28th over.

Accompanying his 30 Test fifties, Kohli boasts an impressive record of 29 centuries in the red-ball format.

Notably, Kohli’s innings propelled him beyond VVS Laxman’s position as India’s fourth-highest scorer in Test cricket. Currently, he trails behind cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar (15,921 runs), Sunil Gavaskar (13,265 runs), and Rahul Dravid (10,122 runs) in terms of overall Test runs scored for India.
