Virat Kohli was poor on the field against Rajasthan Royals, says Irfan Pathan

Virat Kohli had a good game with the bat, but he failed to do his best as a fielder. After scoring 113 runs in the first innings, Kohli made several mistakes during the Rajasthan Royals’ run chase. Former India player Irfan Pathan, who lauded the start batter for his hundred, highlighted the former RCB captain’s lack of commitment while fielding in Jaipur. Kohli dropped a difficult catch, but he is expected to grab such chances considering his standards.

He was also involved in several extra runs, which didn’t help the visiting franchise. Kohli failed to collect the ball cleanly and even conceded boundaries due to a lack of communication with his teammates.

“Virat Kohli was poor on the field. He dropped a catch that should have been grabbed. He also conceded extra runs during the run chase, which didn’t help his team. Virat will be disappointed with himself as we don’t generally see this with him while defending a total,” Irfan Pathan said.

Meanwhile, RCB are ninth in the points table with two points from five matches. Kohli felt 183 was sufficient to defend as the pitch was slow in nature. He was proved wrong by Jos Buttler, who scored a hundred for the hosts. Sanju Samson chipped in with 69 as RR completed the chase in 19.1 overs and with 6 wickets in hand.
